Northstar Recycling is proud to advance sustainability through our daily business of providing core services in recycling and landfill diversion. To amplify the sustainable impact of our work, the Northstar Sustainability Fund (“NSF”) seeks to make long-term commitments to charitable organizations whose initiatives positively impact the environment and our communities.
PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS
Protecting the Hudson River & Safeguarding Drinking Water
Restore coral reefs, educate others on the importance of our oceans, and use science to further our techniques.
Promote the health of pollinators, critical to food and ecosystems, through conservation, education and research.
FUNDED PROJECTS AND COMMUNITY EFFORTS
In 2023, the Fund’s donation helped provide 106 solar cookers to empower an estimated 775 solar cookers to refugees.
Supporting the Downeast Salmon Federation’s “Peter Parr Project” dedicated to rearing salmon parr for two of the five major salmon rivers in Downeast, Maine.
Supporting the Flower Hill Institute’s Indigenous Rewilding Network, an Indigenous-led initiative dedicated to restoring ecological balance, building tribal power, and reintroducing keystone species.
Supporting the Maui Forest Bird Recovery Project, dedicated to preventing the extinction of Maui’s endangered native forest birds through habitat restoration, predator control, and research.
Sponsoring the Surfrider Los Angeles chapter’s beach cleanups
Sponsorship of the Post Landfill Action Network (PLAN)’s Atlas Zero Waste programs at college campuses nationwide, including fellowships and standardized certifications.
Sponsorship of Adirondack Mountain Club’s 2025 National Trails Day event
Annual Mohawk Riverfront Cleanup with Riverkeeper (since 2024) with volunteer participation from the Northstar Recycling employee base in the Little Falls, NY area.
